Schneider Electric India won the award for "Responsible Business Leader" at the Responsible the Responsible Business Summit & Awards ceremony held on 28th June, 2013 at Hotel Taj Land Ends, Mumbai

Mumbai, July 08, 2013

"The award is recognition of all our efforts to responsibly run our business. It's an inspiration and encouragement for our Corporate Social Responsibility team to intensify and extend their efforts to achieve greater success.

Our most recent initiative has been the setting up of 'Spreading Happiness', a non-profit organisation, to provide access to energy (rural electrification) by installing solar home lighting systems. This program will benefit over 25,000 villagers in India in the initial phase. We have collaborated with cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar for this initiative.

Through this initiative we hope to help people in remote parts to have access to an affordable and green lighting system after sunset so that they can use their time productively."
